Humanity. It is disconcerting to think about what we the humans have done to our own race. All because we believe in trying to find a difference such as our ethnicity, intellect, or looks to try to find how we are better than some. Hitler did this to the Jews as he wanted the world to have the Aryan race with the Holocaust, and America did this to the Japanese during the Japanese internment. The Holocaust and the Japanese internment are very different from one another yet they are both very similar to each other. The Holocaust was the systematic mass slaughter of Jews and other groups deemed inferior by the Nazis. The Holocaust began when Adolf Hitler, the fascist leader of Germany that would lead the world into World War II. He and†¦show more content†¦Everyone that even looked to be Japanese would be mistrusted and be labeled as â€Å"the enemy.† On February 19, 1942 President Roosevelt issued an executive order which rounded up every Japanese person that lived in the US as they were seen to be threats to the nation. Many endured names such as being called an â€Å"alien.† In March, the government shipped the Japanese to relocation camps where they were sure to be not in contact with the enemy. Any former possession that the internees might had had were usually gone shortly afterwards as their lands would be repressed. Despite the fact that most of these Japanese were Nisei, native-born American citizens whose parents were Japanese, and that some volunteered for mili tary service they were still put into these camps. They were housed in barracks and used communal areas, for washing and eating. Over half of those taken in were merely children. These camps were then overseen by military personnel. All internees over the age of 17 were given a loyalty test were they were asked questions. 120,000 Japanese were taken in, and only 60,000 survived. In 1988, the U.S. Congress passed legislation which awarded formal payments of $20,000 each to the surviving internees. At the end of the war some remained in the US and rebuilt their lives, others however were unforgiving and returned to Japan. The Police were a huge success in their abilities to influence and survive in a society of climatic endeavors. Throughout the Soviet onslaught in the 1980’s and the Arab oil wars in the 70’s, the music industry has thrived from the variety of conflicts around the globe. Soon after the Space age, The Police put out a popular song titled, â€Å"Message in a Bottle†, this song defined the bands culture with its unique definition pertaining to the climate of the world at that time. More importantly, influential music from that band produced a great change in society from their music – with only five-thousand words, twenty-five songs, three people, and one band – who changed it all. According to Griffith and White, these efforts can be considered as part of the healthcare organization’s marketing strategy because the efforts create awareness, reinforces the significance of the organization to the public, and at the same time allows for insights that can be developed to strategic advantages (pp. 610-613). Conclusion Considering the demands on healthcare today, there is need to develop effective channels for services, streamline operations and maximize resources. According to Leatherman (2001), there has been a recognized need in the health care industry to reevaluate its social roles and the social developments affecting the nature of current health care needs. This can only be accomplished if an organizations structure is able to respond to healthcare professionals and the public effectively, which can only be possible if the organization’s structure allows for the development of such competencies. The need for multicorporate structures does not invalidate the social mandate of healthcare institutions but only endeavors to make a strategy-based and sustainable enterprise. The workforce diversity occurs because of the diverse workforce related to differences in values, physical abilities, caste, gender, sexual orientation, religions, cultures, and race. The workforce diversity also occurs due to the minority groups and indigenous people that create complexities for the employers and managers while managing the HRM practices within the organizations (Assaf, 2015). The workforce diversity includes dimensions- Primary dimension (inborn differences, such as ethnic, race, religion, gender, physical abilities, and sexual orientation) and Secondary dimension (education, religion, believes, marital status, work culture and family background). The discrimination, prejudices, biases, and inequality of the employment practices within the organizations are such growing diversity issues that preve nt the employment of the skilled, qualified, and experienced employee in the companies for the relevant job posts. The Australian Public Service (APS) agencies are confronting challenges in establishing and maintaining the workplace diversity and capable workforce in the Australian workplace. The race and ethnicity creates the complexities to the HRM practices of the employers and tend to hire the employees by preferring the racism, casteism, and reliogionism issues while recruiting the employees. These discriminating employment practices prevent the skilled and qualified employees to get employment based on their abilities (The Australian Department of Human Service, 2015). For ex- the minority groups suffers from the discrimination in employment because of the different cultural, physical and social traits and characteristics that create inequality of the employment practices for the minority groups employees. The termination of the growing ageing workforce is an example of the discriminating employment practices based on the physical abilities. The potential and experienced ageing employees are withdrawn or terminated by most of the employers from their organizations without any appropriate reasons on the basis of ageing or growing ages by ignoring their valuable contributions and extraordinary efforts to the organizations (The Australian Public Service Commission, 2015). The employers and managers also face diversity on the basis of color of the employees. Some employers in Australia give employment preferences to the while people (from countries Australia, Europe, USA and white groups) by ignoring the selection of the black people (Indians, Africans, and other black group people) entirely. The sexual advancements or unwelcome conduct of the sexual nature creates barriers to the ethical working practices. Glass ceiling is a case of the gender discrimination and sexual harassment that prevents the women or lady staffs to get equal employment opportunities. For example, glass ceiling is an invisible barrier that keeps the female employees and other minorities out of the employment. The sexual harassment legislations of the Australian government enforce the employers to provide the security to the female employees during their employment period. The businessmen are focusing on creating a diverse work environment where the talents from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds perform at their best for achieving the organizational goals and objectives as well as maximizing the stakeholders value. The workforce diversity management has become a subject of attention that that the employers and managers are focusing to promote the diversity in the working environment for maximizing the employee morale, job satisfaction, value, and motivation and to realize them that they are important part of the organization. The most of the Australian companies are promoting the workforce diversity management principles at the workplace for enhancing productivity, creativity and innovation, and loyalty and confidence of the employees. Todays, the workforce diversity principles are applied to most of the Australian organizations for getting a significant competitive advance, improving organizational decision-making, meeting stakeholders perspectives, and satisfying the diverse needs of the customers through good service delivery (Optus, 2015). The workforce diversity management is being promoted throughout the Australian organizations to assist in retaining the highly talented, skilled, and experienced workforce, enhancing corporate reputation, improving innovation and creativity among the employees, enhancing customer satisfaction and service levels, and strengthening cultural values throughout the organization. The workforce diversity management also reduces inter-organizational conflicts, employee disputes, communication difficulties, lower turn-over and absenteeism, and lower employee motivation. For example, according to a report from Hays Plc. an Australian recruitment consulting agency, more than 58% of the Australian employees are more likely to see diversity in the workplace. From the survey of 239 employees and 348 candidates, the diversity map shows the diverse workforce on the basis of genders, age, multi-cultural, indigenous, and disabilities (Canas and Sondak, 2014). From the survey report of Hays recruitment , it is found that 66 % employees see the organization gender diverse, 66% workforce look the organization cultural diverse from various cultural backgrounds, 69% see organization as a diverse workforce of different age groups of employees, 30% say that the organization has diversity with Aboriginal and Torres strait workforce, and 26% see the diverse organization with disable workforce. Workforce Diversity Programs and initiatives The workplace diversity program 2014-2017 of the Australian Public Service (APS) Commission provides information to the employees about the importance and relevance of the workplace diversity. It reinforces the National Archives commitment to the workforce diversity and embedding the diversity in day to day operations, workplace environment, culture, and customer service delivery. This program provides directions related to attracting, recruiting, and retaining the employee from the diverse cultural backgrounds, providing them a discrimination-free work environment that is professional flexible, innovative, and engaged, and integrating the diversity principles into the management practices (Bendi, Bleijenbergh, Henttonen, and Mills, 2015). This program encourage the employment of the workforce from the Indigenous Australian backgrounds, people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, people with disabilities, mature age workers, and LGBTI people (Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual, T ransgender, and Intersex people). For example, the diversity report of National Archives of APS shows that APS 57.5% workforce account for the women employees, APS 44% employees are over 45 years aged, APS 2.9% are disable employees, and 2.3% from Indigenous backgrounds. While, on the other hand, training, testing, and mentoring are organizational approaches used to manage the diversity within the organization. The equal opportunities of the training and development and learning could be provided for all staff members for reducing the diversity of the workplace by improving their skills, knowledge, and work competences of the diverse workforce (CTI Reviews, 2016). The coaching and mentoring are also workforce diversity management programs that focus on educating the employees for the awareness of the diversity needs of the organization and teaching them about different cultural patterns, environmental conditions, and business requirements in the environment of risks and uncertainties. The training, learning, coaching, and mentoring improve the problems-solving skills, decision-making skills, managerial skills, communication skills, technological knowledge and job competences of the staff members for preparing them to work in the diverse work environment (Barak, 2016). The employers are accepting the diversity challenges by focusing on integrating CSR and ethics into the HRM practices for providing the equal treatment to all employees by recruiting the skilled and deserving candidates on the basis of their capabilities, skills, knowledge, and work experiences. For example, the ethical code of conduct is a diversity management initiative that some employers follow by issuing a code of ethics to all its employees that will treat all employees in same manner based on the equality, transparency, fairness, and accountability of the working practices. The employers in Australia have been recruiting the over half diverse workforce for the technical, operations, marketing, managerial, accountants, and labor class jobs that will assist in developing the productive workplace by combining the skills, knowledge, efforts, and performances of the diverse workforce for the attainment of common goals and objectives. The cross-cultural technological training is also a part of the cultural diversity management programs, provided by the top technological companies, such as Intel, Apple, Samsung, for reducing the cultural diversity impact at the workplace. The cross-cultural training provides the employees an understanding of the different cultures, traditions, languages, and regional issues. The diversity training programs is provided for enhancing the awareness of the diversity and educating the employees about the business care for diversity. Through diversity training, the managerial staffs and executive employees learn the norms, values, cultures, customs, traditions, and language preferences of different cultural environments (Deresky and Christopher, 2015). The employee participation and engagement is an initiative adopted by the employers and managers for reducing the diversity related issues by allowing the participation of all employees in the company meetings, seminars, events, decision-making process that will assist to enhance the employee motivation, morale, and job satisfaction. Conclusion From the above studies, it can be concluded that the workforce diversity has become an increasingly issue for the Australian firms affecting the HRM practices, strategies, and planning. The employers and managers are now becoming more attentive to the workforce diversity management by reducing the discrimination, prejudice and inequality on the basis of age, race, gender, sex, religion and gender. In this article, I'll explain perfect blackjack strategy and how to use it to your advantage. I've focused on playing at a casino, but the same strategies apply if you're playing online or at a home game. The Basic Rules of Blackjack The goal of blackjack is to beat the dealer’s hand without going over 21. Before cards are dealt, players place their bets. Each player starts with two cards that are face up. Face cards are worth 10. Aces are worth 1 or 11; whichever makes a better hand. One of the dealer’s two cards is face down until the very end after every player completes his hand. You can ask for another card (hit) or stick with your current hand (stand). You have the option to keep hitting until you’re satisfied with your hand, or you go over 21 (bust). If you bust, the dealer wins regardless of the dealer’s eventual hand. The dealer must hit until her cards total 17 or higher. Blackjack! (banspy/Flickr) Defining Blackjack Terms These are the blackjack terms you must know to determine the right play to make in each situation. I put the terms in alphabetical order. Blackjack: The best possible hand in blackjack. It consists of an ace and a card with a value of 10. At most casinos, blackjack plays 3:2. So for example, if you bet $10, getting blackjack pays $15. Bust: Busting is going over 21. As mentioned previously, if you bust, you automatically lose. Double Down/Doubling: Doubling down or doubling is when a player places an additional bet equal to his original bet and then receives just one additional card. You can only double down with your first two cards. For example, if you bet $5 and get dealt an 11, you can place an additional $5 bet and receive one more card. Regardless of whether you get a 2 or a 10, you can’t hit again. Hard/Hard Hand: Any hand that doesn’t contain an ace that can count as an 11. A 10 and a 7 is a hard 17. Hit: Hitting is asking for another card. Insurance: When the dealer shows an ace, the player can place a side bet of up to half of his original bet. If the dealer has blackjack, the insurance bet pays 2 to 1. If the dealer doesn’t have blackjack, the insurance bet loses. Based on probability, you should never take insurance. Push: When you push, your hand ties with the dealer and you keep your original bet. For instance, if you and the dealer both have 19, you push. Soft/Soft Hand: A soft hand is a hand that includes an ace valued at 11 instead of 1. For example, an ace and a 6 is a soft 17. You can be more aggressive with soft hands because there’s no risk of busting. If you hit on a soft 17 and get a 5, the ace will be valued at 1 and you’ll have a 12. Split: If a player is dealt two equal cards, he can split them into two separate hands by placing an additional bet equal to his original bet. For example, if you bet $10 and are dealt two 8’s, for another $10, you can split your hand into two separate hands, each with one 8. Stand/Stay: Standing or staying is sticking with your hand and no longer asking for more cards. Surrender: Surrendering is basically giving up before seeing what the dealer gets. If you surrender, you abandon your hand and recover half of your initial bet. Surrendering is the best option when it’s extremely likely that you’ll lose given your hand and the card the dealer is showing. Unfortunately, many casinos don’t offer the surrender option. However, if you can just memorize the basic blackjack strategy rules, then you’ll be well ahead of the novice player. Following these rules won’t always be the 100% perfect play, but it almost always will be, and again, these rules are much easier to remember than perfect blackjack strategy. Compared to absolute perfect blackjack play, following these rules will only cost you about one hand in 12 hours of play. Basic Blackjack Strategy Chart Here are the charts outlining basic strategy. They tell you what to do given the value of your hand (left column) and the card the dealer is showing (right two columns). HARD 2 to 6 7 to A 4 to 8 HIT HIT 9 DOUBLE HIT 10 or 11 DOUBLE DOUBLE if more than dealer* 12 to 16 STAND HIT 17 to 21 STAND STAND *This means that if you have a 10 and the dealer is showing 9 or less, you should double. If the dealer is showing 10 or an ace, just hit. Similarly, if you have 11, double if the dealer is showing 10 or less. If the dealer is showing an ace, just hit. SOFT 2 to 6 7 to A 13 to 15 HIT HIT 16 to 18 DOUBLE HIT 19 to 21 STAND STAND SPLITS (Yes or No)* 2 to 6 7 to A 2/2, 3/3, 6/6, 7/7, 9/9 YES NO 8/8, A/A YES YES 4/4, 5/5, 10/10 NO NO *If you don’t split, treat your hand like a hard hand. For example, if you don’t split with two 7’s, make the appropriate play for a hard 14. Additional Rules On top of the blackjack strategy charts above, here are a few additional rules to remember: Surrender if you have a 16 and the dealer is showing a 10. If the table doesn’t allow surrendering, then hit. If the strategy says to double but you’re not allowed, then hit, except you should stand with a soft 18. Never take insurance. When the dealer shows an ace, the player can place a side bet of up to half of his original bet. If the dealer has blackjack, the insurance bet pays 2 to 1. If the dealer doesn’t have blackjack, the insurance bet loses. Similarly, never take even money when you get blackjack. If you’re dealt blackjack and the dealer is showing an ace, you’ll be offered an even money payout in case the dealer has blackjack. For example, if you bet $10, if you take even money you’ll win $10 instead of the $15 for a 3:2 payout. If you decline the even money and the dealer has blackjack, you’ll push and you’ll just get your original bet back. Perfect Blackjack Strategy While following the basic blackjack strategy will almost always have you make the right play, there are occasions when it won’t. If you’re really trying to master blackjack, then just following the basic strategy won’t quite cut it. The perfect blackjack strategy charts are based on the slightly different versions of the game. Blackjack can be played with a single deck or 4-8 decks. Most casinos I’ve been to have single deck or use six decks. Also, some casinos require the dealer to stand with a soft 17, and some mandate the dealer to hit with a soft 17. If the dealer has to stand with a soft 17, that will give you better odds. Perfect Blackjack Strategy Charts Here are the charts you need to memorize to get your blackjack strategy perfect. The numbers going horizontally at the top of the chart represent the card that the dealer is showing, and the numbers in the left most column are the value of your hand. The first set covers what to do if the dealer is required to stand on a soft 17 and the second set covers the strategy if the dealer is expected to hit on a soft 17. Each includes three charts that you can use depending on whether your hand is hard, soft, or split. A white girls Burden†, written Amy Finnegan is an article about a social movement, which happened in 2012, this is most commonly referred to as Kony 2012. This movement was started by a group of 3 regular Californian guys who had typical lives who were motivated to started an organization on this situation which is called invisible children, which was first formed in 2003. The video titled â€Å"Kony 2012† is 30 minutes long and quickly made an appearance on many social networks and newspapers across North America, â€Å"sparking wide spread concern about the lords resistance army (LRA) war in central Africa†. Once this video became viral thousands of people became moved about this issue and started to help fundraise thousands of dollars to help the cause from all ages of people. â€Å"Invisible children mobilizes predominantly young, privileged, evangelical Christian, female Americans to participate in a unique form of â€Å" non-wave-making activism† (Finnegan, 2013). Aside from fundraising people were also reaching out to all the contacts and sources they had to further raise the awareness of the war in Africa. Soon after the video was released invisible children had already raised 1 million dollars after a week. The founders of the organization â€Å"invisible children† all had faith and were into religion, however they did not want to mix religion and business. Invisible children made a social movement unlike many others, through social medial and non-violent actions. â€Å"Distinct from activism that seeks to make social change by engaging institutions through civil disobedience or public protests, invisible children promotes legal, institutional forms of engagement. † (Finnegan, 2013). Some major events that invisible children has achieved is hosted the largest lobby day ever about an African issue in U.  S history, they have also successfully gained several minutes of unscheduled airtime with Oprah to raise awareness about this conflict. In â€Å"less than an year, of the lords resistance army disarmament and northern Uganda recovery act, at a bipartisan piece of legislation that mandated that the Obama administration provide funds for the northern Uganda recovery and transitional justice initiatives, and eventually send 100 military advisors to the region in October 2011† (Finnegan, 2013). Invisible children have also being contacted by George Clooney, and other popular films like Blood Diamond. However there are 3 main problems discussed in this article regarding invisible children, firstly the media seemed to misrepresent Uganda and what one knows about it. Secondly, â€Å" invisible children also promoted policies that are highly controversial† and lastly â€Å" Americans shallow an ill-informed understanding of Africa, and a distorted picture of their own role in social change. † (Finnegan, 2013). Invisible children have focused on gaining the attention on young people because these types of people are the future and are becoming more passionate and involved in stories and issues similar to this concern all around the world. Mobilizing young people to become active on these issues is very important and very effective to changing the world, young people are more socially active online and do participate in other subjects such as invisible children and stopping Joseph Kony. This issue is still going on but has gotten better; problems like this cannot be solved overnight but throughout the past 2 years have made a significant difference and will continue to get better. Because of the generous donations and support a lot has been done regarding this issue and has led others to become aware of different problems, situations, organizations, and groups around the world.

Maya describes in great detail the mystery of women and the behavior of men and their reaction. It shows women to not only love your-self but to embrace every aspect of your mind, body and soul. Maya show that sexuality isn’t only related to outer beauty, or by the way you dress it more about how you feel within your own skin . she shows you instead of hating your body love it from the crown of your head to the sole of your feet. In society today women enhances their body by doing plastic surgery to feel accepted. She feels inferior clearly stating that every part of a woman is beauty. In comparisons to â€Å"Phenomenal Woman† and â€Å"Still I Rise† both poems Maya speaks about not bowing to the â€Å"oppressor†. You can feel her compassion in every word in Phenomenal Woman â€Å"now you understand why my head’s not bowed† (lines 47). Still I Rise forth stanza â€Å"with head bowed and eyes lowered? †Within these lines she stresses that she will not conform to what society made her out to be, that she will soar above and beyond everyone expectations. The little gives a sense of entity and power. In conclusion these two poems have few similarities; Maya characterized the strength of an African American woman. Pro-War Characters with an Anti-War Message Essay -- Literary Analysis

In the first chapter of Slaughterhouse-Five, the narrator goes to meet an old war friend, Bernard V. O’Hare, who served with him in World War II and was also witness to the bombing of Dresden. The narrator, having attempted to write a novel based on his experiences during that time for many years, was hoping that, between the two of them, they could come up with some good war stories to incorporate into his novel. After many failed attempts to find something of substance upon which to base his novel, both men failed, for â€Å"there is nothing intelligent to say about a massacre† (19). Instead, the most important thing anyone came up with that evening was one who hadn’t even served in the war. Mary O’Hare, Bernard’s wife, was opposed to war, â€Å"it was war that made her so angry†, and feared that, through the narrator’s story, he would make war â€Å"look just wonderful, so we’ll have a lot more of them† (15, 14). Upon hearing Mary’s outburst, the narrator promised her â€Å"there wouldn’t be a part for Frank Sinatra or John Wayne† in his telling of his experiences during war (15). Instead, the narrator pledged that he would title his novel â€Å"The Children’s Crusade†, which Slaughterhouse-Five is subtitled, and dedicated the novel to her. While Slaughterhouse-Five may not have any characters Sinatra or Wayne would be suited to play, it does contain many characters that hold pro-war views. In many ways, the narrator’s honest portrayal of characters who view war in a positive manner or who attempt to justify the bombing of Dresden works against them. The narrator, for the most part, doesn’t attempt to rebuke or criticize these views, but instead represents them in all their unflinching honesty. By highlighting the inhumanity and cruelty of these char... ...more sympathetic than Eaker to those who lost their lives in the Dresden bombing. Saundy believed â€Å"that the bombing of Dresden was a great tragedy none can deny†, and that it wasn’t necessary to the Allies efforts to win the War (187). However, he does defend those who directed the bombing, stating they â€Å"were neither wicked nor cruel†, but instead forced into making a tough decision in a decisive time in the War (187). Saundy presents a much more humane view of the bombing of Dresden than Eaker. Saundy doesn’t attempt to justify or condemn the bombing; he instead portrays it as one of the many horrors of war that can only be viewed in hindsight as such. These official assessments offer the observation that â€Å"military men responsible for such slaughters act not out of malignity but from muddled values which prevent them from seeing simpler moral truths† (Reed, 54).

Burts Bees Essay

A while back in 2007, Burts Bee’s was bought out by Clorox for $913 million. In buying Burts Bee’s Clorox is promising to go green. This was Clorox’s start in buying out other green companies to help them achieve their goal in going completely green. Mr. Shavitz and Ms. Quimby the original owners of Burt’s Bees had a huge fall out that began in the late 1990’s which has been going on ever since. (1) The reason that Clorox was willing to pay almost $1 Billion for Burts Bee’s because they see a big opportunity in the market to make their products green. The Burt’s Bess is really into the whole giving back to the community, and always helping. A few events they have done for the community is Urban Gardening when they teamed up with NEEM, to help make Durham, North Carolina greener, and help them plant more community gardens. Another event that they have done is help create green homes in North Carolina. As I was looking on the Burt’s Bees website on their most frequently asked questions someone asked how they can receive donations, and the answer the company gave threw me aback. â€Å"At this time, Burt’s Bees is not currently providing product or financial donations. We remain committed to supporting local community organizations committed to The Greater Good† (2) Personally in reading this I feel like if they want to help create that customer satisfaction, they should be willing to help everyone go green and not just the community. Since the buyout according to Clorox, their natural care products already account for over $6 billion in sales and is growing at a fast rate. The sales are climbing to a yearly rate of around 9%. As for the stalk holder Clorox states, they rose from $1. 69, 2. 8%. to $62. 69. This was a huge boost for the stockholders, and for people who wanted to buy into the stalk. As of 25th 2013, the stalks are at $83. 25. (3) This was also helping Clorox’s public relations by helping them get well known. Clorox does a whole bunch of press releases to help show that they have turned green. They also do press releases when they win an award or do contests for people to enter. When you go on the Clorox website they give you three options to choose from, Press Releases, Media Resources, and Press contacts. Since working together with Burt’s Bee’s, Clorox is also trying to get more involved in the community which they never used to do. On their website they state, â€Å"Clorox knows that it can’t do it alone and actively seeks partners and other affiliations to help us become a more sustainable company. Clorox also cares. I think Penelope and Telemachus were honest and Odysseus was not because he slept with a lot of women such as Circe and calypso. I believe Penelope was loyal, even though there were suitors that were trying to convince her to marry them. On the other side, Telemachus had hope that his father would return. All of these qualities are hero like. Penelope was the hero of the odyssey because she was true to her husband in spite of compelling reasons to give him up. She managed to raise her son by herself. She was loyal and devoted to her husband because the suitors tried offer her many things such as ship full of gold, ships and food her but she refused the offer. She is a good house wife because she can weave. She is believed to be one of the most beautiful women ever. Not only Penelope is beautiful and talented, she is also clever, although usually its Odysseus who is said to be clever or cunning. But when shes backed into a corner and forced to choose a suitor, Penelope agrees shell wed one of them, but first must weave this special cloth. Then, as the suitors get drunk each day, she weaves in full view. But at night, while theyre all sleeping it off, she stays up late; ripping out everything she wove during the daylight hours. So she makes very little progress on this weaving! And theyre too dull to notice. I think Telemachus has remained hopeful because he think that hes is still alive. One key trait that Telemachus shows is hope towards his fathers life, and his mothers love for his father. No, please, I need the boat, my father is still alive, I know it, and he really is. (Book XVIII, 212) This just shows his hope towards his father, and how he tried to persuade his fellow Ithacans to give him a boat to go out and search for his father. Another skill that Telemachus has, is courage, which he shows specifically when he tries to defend his father.
